Antimatter was formed in 1998 by former Anathema illuminary Duncan Patterson and long time friend Michael Moss. Demo tape was recorded in 1999 in a few different places : Duncan's bedroom, Mick's attic, The Bunker (DFA shelter), Danny North's (Sear) bedroom. Not all the songs where on the demo. "Saviour", "Holocaust", "Over Your Shoulder", "Angelic", "Psalms", "The Last Laugh" were done. Antimatter did record "The Summer Effect", "Flowers" and "God Is Coming" but they were different versions. After nearly two years of setbacks and broken promises, Antimatter were approached by Icon Records, a new label based in Melbourne, Australia. After a few discussions, they agreed a deal and set about recording their debut album "Saviour" in Academy Studios in September 2000 assisted by Brian Moss & Les 'Lecter' Smith as well as featuring Sear Michelle Richfield and Drug Free America's Hayley Windsor sharing the vocal duties. Those in Benelux & Italy were the first in the world to see the official release of the debut Antimatter album 'Saviour' on the 21st of May'01. Next the debut album appeared in United Kingdom on the 27th of August'01 and in Poland on 28th of November'01. Now there are still constant delays with the album release... 15th of February '02 Duncan Patterson started his own record label - Strangelight Records. For a start, he's gonna release "Saviour" with acoustic tracks (recorded by Michael Moss and Daniel Cavanagh) as a bonus. Asked about Antimatter future Duncan said that they (Dunc&Mick) would just carry on what they were doing and keep on top of things. On the other hand Mick said : "Very very bleak, frosty too. Dry, torn. Very downbeat with lots of thorns. Oh and paranoid. Paranoid, bleak, frosty and very very bleak." It doesn't sound optimistically, but I think you should take it easy in any case. ;-) Hopefully, Antimatter will be playing live sometime this year once they have finished the second album 'Lights Out'.
